#1: Bloody Saturday
#2: Hitler and a Nazi Party
#3: Starvation
  1. There was a bombing and in the aftermath the photographer saw a young Chinese child crying at the sight of his dead mother, and the ruins of his home.
  • It impacted the world cause you just see this young child all alone and hopeless, sitting in the ruins of his home.
  • I have mixed feelings about it, I like the fact that the photographer was bringing awareness to serious situations, in different areas of the world, but I don’t like it for the fact that its a child that’s all alone and it is a hard sight to see.
  • The photograph evokes the feeling of loneliness and sadness.

The photographer was trying to show the viewer the misery that other people are going through in the world that no one really knows about.

  • This photo is intriguing because its so upsetting and it catches your attention and makes you feel sympathy towards the young child and it makes you wanna go out and help him.

2.  “Hitler at a Nazi Rally”, Shows the following of Hitler during his rule and those who were for him and his ideas. The individuals were showing their loyalty to him and celebrating his presence.

  • It impacted the world because it showed the new leader of Germany, and the strength that he had behind him and the influence he had on his people,
  • I think it is interesting because you have one of the most known dictators being celebrated by individuals who adore him and believe in his ideals of Germany.
  • The picture evokes the feeling of curiosity and wonder, because you just wonder why people would support such an awful time in history that made a huge impact on Germany and the rest of the world.
  • The photographer was trying to show the viewer the power and strength Hitler had over his people.
  • This photograph is intriguing because it just shows the most violent time in history, that at the beginning of his rule was great and he did many great things for Germany, until his hatred of the Jewish arose and the mass killing began.

3. In this ph0tograph is showing the huge famine in Somalia. There was no peace and food prices sky rocketed which led most of their population into starvation and malnutrition.

  • The photograph impacted the world because it showed the hardships in the third world and it cause many people to stand up and help save a huge portion of the population.
  • I like the photograph, because it helps me realizes that the food that we waste on a daily basis is dangerous, because there are others in the world that don’t have food and are starving and wishing for a meal.
  • It evoke the feeling of thankfulness but as well as sorrow.
  • The photographer is trying to show the viewer that food isn’t always a given and that there is a surplus of food. The photographer is trying to prove that there are people in the world wishing for a meal and that people need to stand up and help out.
  • This photograph is intriguing because you don’t see this much on television or even the newspaper. You don’t see the real problems in the world because the government doesn’t want its people to see the bad in the world.

Aaron Siskind

  • For my first impression of his work… I like his work it’s something new that you don’t normally see.
  • Aaron Siskind achieves abstraction by using a lot of texture, and he looks at things from many different angles. Siskind uses things that you would not normally think of.
  • The elements of photography that he uses are texture, pattern, lines and in some cases he uses fill in the frame.
  • I believe I could find random objects that I personally wouldn’t normally take a picture of and look at it from different angles to get the abstract look just from a simple object.
  •
